The Green Bay Packers have had a very typical offseason, and that might not be a bad thing.

The Green Bay Packers have once again taken the road less traveled this offseason—and for the faithful in Titletown, that might actually be a welcome sign.

Coming off another campaign that ended in disappointment, many expected the Packers to shake things up with a blockbuster move or two. Instead, the organization stayed true to form, opting for a quiet, calculated approach that focused on the margins rather than making headlines.

In free agency, the Packers added defensive help with Javon Hargrave and Zaire Franklin, while shoring up the offense with wide receiver Skyy Moore and veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor. With no first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the front office clearly prioritized patience over panic.

CBS Sports' Zachary Pereles recently summed up Green Bay's offseason in a single word: "development." And it's hard to argue with that assessment. The Packers are betting big on internal growth—a strategy that feels both familiar and, in many ways, smart.

Pereles pointed out that before Micah Parsons' injury, the Packers were a 9-3-1 team with a top-five defense when both Parsons and Devonte Wyatt were on the field. Without them, that same defense fell to the worst success rate in the NFL. Getting those two—along with tight end Tucker Kraft—back healthy is arguably the most impactful move the team could make.

But the real key to the "development" narrative might be rookie Brandon Cisse. Selected in the second round of the 2026 draft, the explosive defensive prospect is expected to step into an immediate role. If Cisse can develop alongside a healthy core, the Packers could quietly be much better than anyone expects.

In a league that often glorifies splashy signings and bold trades, Green Bay's steady approach might just be the smartest play of all. After all, sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make.
