Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Barcelona defender Ona Batlle on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old's contract with Barça expires at the end of the season and talks have been ongoing between Batlle and Arsenal since the start of 2026.

According to journalist Emma Sanders of BBC Sport, that deal is now close to completion with Batlle set to return to the WSL after three seasons with Barcelona.

Batlle first moved to England from Levante in 2020 and spent three seasons with Manchester United where she became a key player, featuring 77 times for the club, scoring three times and making 18 assists.

The full-back was also part of the Spain side that defeated England at the most recent World Cup and played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 defeat to the Lionesses earlier this month.
