The Oklahoma State Cowgirls are heading back to familiar territory, and this time they're bringing the party with them. Head Coach Kenny Gajewski's squad has been awarded the No. 13 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, earning the right to host the Stillwater Regional starting this Friday at Cowgirl Stadium.
Gajewski's confidence never wavered. "I felt like we did enough," he said, and the selection committee agreed. The Cowgirls (38-15) will welcome No. 5 seed Stanford, Princeton, and Eastern Illinois for a double-elimination showdown that promises plenty of fireworks.
The action kicks off Friday at 1 p.m. when Princeton takes on Stanford, followed by OSU facing Eastern Illinois at 3:30 p.m. The winner of this regional will advance to face the Lincoln Regional champion, hosted by top-seeded Nebraska.
Oklahoma State comes in riding some serious momentum, having won 21 of their last 26 games. Their only recent hiccup came in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals, where they fell to eventual champion Arizona State. But don't let that fool you—this team is battle-tested and hungry.
All eyes will be on slugger Rosie Davis, who's been absolutely on fire. With four home runs in her last five games, she's now leading the team with 14 dingers on the season. When she's in the zone, the Cowgirls are tough to stop.
And then there's ace Ruby Meylan. The senior right-hander has been a workhorse, posting a stellar 27-7 record with a 2.11 ERA and 205 strikeouts over 222 innings. Here's a stat that tells the story: OSU is 13-7 at home, but in six of those seven losses, Meylan didn't start, and she didn't pitch at all in four of them. When she's in the circle, the Cowgirls are a different beast.
With a hot bat, a dominant arm, and home-field advantage, Oklahoma State is ready to make some noise. Grab your orange and get to Cowgirl Stadium—this is going to be one unforgettable weekend.
