The Oklahoma State Cowgirls are set to bring the postseason excitement back to Stillwater. After a strong regular season campaign, OSU has earned the No. 13 overall seed and will host the Stillwater Regional in the NCAA Tournament, starting this Friday at Cowgirl Stadium.
Head Coach Kenny Gajewski expressed confidence that his team had done enough to secure a regional host spot, and the selection committee agreed. The Cowgirls (38-15) will welcome a competitive field, including No. 5 seed Stanford, Princeton, and Eastern Illinois for a four-team, double-elimination bracket.
The action kicks off Friday at 1 p.m. with Princeton taking on Stanford, followed by OSU facing Eastern Illinois at 3:30 p.m. The winner of the Stillwater Regional will advance to face the winner of the Lincoln Regional, hosted by No. 1 Nebraska.
OSU closed the regular season strong, winning 21 of their last 26 games and finishing second in the Big 12 behind last year's national runner-up, Texas Tech. Their momentum was only briefly halted by a semifinal loss to eventual Big 12 Tournament champion Arizona State.
Key players are heating up at the right time. Rosie Davis has been on fire at the plate, smashing four home runs in her last five games to bring her season total to a team-leading 14. On the mound, the Cowgirls are anchored by senior ace Ruby Meylan, who boasts a stellar 27-7 record, a 2.11 ERA, and 205 strikeouts over 222 innings this season. Notably, OSU is 13-7 at home, and in six of those seven losses, Meylan either didn't start or didn't pitch at all—underscoring her importance to the team's postseason hopes.
With a balanced attack and home-field advantage, the Cowgirls are poised to make a deep run. Gear up for the postseason and show your support for OSU softball as they chase a trip to the Women's College World Series.
