Oklahoma appears on the verge of strengthening its Class of 2027 as of Friday.

The Oklahoma Sooners are making serious noise on the recruiting trail, and the future is looking bright for Coach Brent Venables' program. As of Friday, all signs point to the Sooners landing a dynamic new weapon for their Class of 2027.

According to updated projections from Covered Wagons Recruiting—an On3 and Rivals prediction page—three-star running back Jakoby Dixon is now considered 96.7% likely to commit to Oklahoma. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound prospect out of Branham, Texas, had long been favored to join Oregon, but the momentum has clearly shifted. Dixon would be a powerful addition to an already impressive recruiting class.

Oklahoma currently boasts the No. 2-ranked 2027 class in FBS, with 21 players already committed. Among them are 11 four-star recruits, including six who rank among the top 100 prospects nationally. Leading the charge is Bixby High School offensive lineman Kaeden Perry, the No. 2 tackle in the country and the top-rated player in Oklahoma. If Dixon commits, he would become the second running back in the class, joining four-star Keldrid Ben of Montgomery, Texas, who committed back in December.

Adding depth at running back is a smart move for the Sooners, who ranked just 113th in the nation in rushing yards per game last season. Rising sophomore Tory Blaylock led the team with 480 yards, followed by rising junior Xavier Robinson with 421. They'll be joined by Lloyd Avant, a rising junior transfer from Colorado State, forming the expected top three on the depth chart for 2026. With Dixon potentially in the fold, the Sooners are building a backfield that could turn heads in the seasons to come.
