Ohio State's freshman guard Mathieu Grujicic is on the move. After just one season in Columbus, the 6-foot-7 international prospect has entered the NCAA transfer portal, seeking a new collegiate home.

Grujicic, who joined the Buckeyes last fall after playing professionally in Spain, saw limited action in his debut campaign. He appeared in only six games, totaling 33 minutes and scoring six points. His last appearance came on December 23rd, and he did not play in the team's final 22 games, including their NCAA Tournament run.

Nicknamed "Gru," the young guard's season was hampered by minor injuries, including a wrist issue, which impacted his practice availability and playing time. This limited participation could make him a candidate for a medical redshirt, preserving a year of his eligibility, pending an NCAA decision.

A three-star recruit from Germany, Grujicic was part of a notable wave of German talent entering college basketball this season. Before choosing Ohio State, he held offers from other major programs like Kansas State and Louisville. His departure marks the fifth Buckeye to enter the portal this offseason, as head coach Jake Diebler reshapes the roster for his first full year at the helm.

While Grujicic expressed a desire to stay with the Buckeyes just before the tournament, the search for a larger role and consistent minutes now leads him elsewhere. His combination of size, international experience, and potential for growth will make him an intriguing prospect in the transfer market for teams looking to add backcourt depth.
