Big news for Ohio State basketball fans: the Buckeyes' 2026-27 Big Ten schedule is starting to take shape, and it includes a much-anticipated home-and-home series with archrival Michigan. That's right—the rivalry that gets fans fired up will be a two-game affair, just as both head coaches Jake Diebler (Ohio State) and Dusty May (Michigan) had publicly pushed for.
In the expanded 18-team Big Ten, every school plays a 20-game conference slate. For Ohio State, that means facing three teams twice (home and away), seven teams only on the road, and seven teams only at home. Alongside Michigan, the Buckeyes will also have home-and-home series with Iowa and Penn State.
As for the rest of the matchups, Ohio State will welcome Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Oregon, Rutgers, Washington, and Wisconsin to Columbus. Meanwhile, road trips will take them to Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, UCLA, and USC. That West Coast swing to face the Bruins and Trojans is a highlight—last season, the Buckeyes traveled to Washington and Oregon while hosting UCLA and USC at home.
The nonconference schedule is also heating up. Ohio State has already locked in a Nov. 2 game against BYU in Salt Lake City, a Nov. 13 trip to UConn, a visit to Notre Dame (date TBD), and a Dec. 19 showdown with Kansas as part of the CBS Sports Classic in New York City. More nonconference games are expected to be announced soon.
On the roster front, the Buckeyes are still finalizing their lineup for the 2026-27 season. The latest addition is 7-foot-1 freshman center Vuk Lazarevic from Serbia, who joins third-year head coach Jake Diebler's squad. Full dates, times, and broadcast details for the Big Ten schedule won't be released for several months, so stay tuned for more updates as the season approaches.
