Penn State's 2027 recruiting class just got a whole lot more interesting. Three-star running back Chukwuma Odoh out of Paramus Catholic in Plainfield, New Jersey, has officially committed to the Nittany Lions, announcing his decision exclusively to Rivals.
Standing at an imposing 6-foot-0 and 220 pounds, Odoh brings a powerful presence to the backfield. Rated as the No. 55 running back in the nation by Rivals, he chose Penn State over a competitive field that included Kentucky, Auburn, Miami, Michigan State, Syracuse, and Wisconsin. His message? Simple and direct: "All Glory To God💙🤍🦁"
This commitment comes on the heels of Penn State landing four-star Aiden Gibson from South Carolina earlier this week. And if you're sensing a pattern, you're right. Both Gibson (6-foot-1, 215 pounds) and Odoh fit the mold of big, physical backs that running backs coach Matt Campbell clearly prizes. The philosophy is straightforward: big people are good at football.
But Odoh is more than just a big body. His game tape reveals impressive coordination and balance that set him apart. While he might not be the flashiest runner in open space—don't expect a highlight reel of ankle-breaking jukes and spin moves—there's a subtle elegance to his style. He wins with quick feet and controlled power, reminiscent of Kaytron Allen's approach. Like Allen, Odoh keeps his frame under control even in tight spaces, making him a handful for defenders in the trenches.
Speed? He's got that too. Odoh recently clocked a 10.86 in the 100-meter dash, showcasing legitimate track speed. That said, his game speed on film might not scream "burner" in the way Nick Singleton's does—where one step means you're gone. But make no mistake: his athleticism is well above average, and when you combine that with his size and frame, you're looking at a back with serious potential to develop into a workhorse for the Nittany Lions.
