Portsmouth have moved to secure the futures of two key defensive figures, offering Connor Ogilvie and Zak Swanson new contracts to remain at Fratton Park. The pair, both full-backs, have been instrumental in the Blues' recent campaigns, and the club's annual retained list confirms they've been given the opportunity to extend their stays on the south coast.

Ogilvie, now 30, has been a consistent presence since joining Portsmouth in 2021, racking up an impressive 196 appearances. His experience and reliability have made him a fan favorite. Swanson, 25, arrived from Arsenal in 2022 and has already notched 111 appearances, showcasing his versatility and steady growth in the Championship. Holding onto both defenders signals Pompey's intent to build on their hard-fought survival this season.

However, not everyone will be sticking around. The club confirmed four players will depart when their contracts expire this summer. Goalkeeper Jordan Archer, along with youngsters Harry Clout and Reuben Swann, are heading out. Midfielder Andre Dozzell was also offered a new deal but opted for a fresh challenge, turning down Pompey in favor of a move to MLS side DC United.

On a brighter note, club captain Marlon Pack has signed a one-year extension, providing leadership and midfield stability for the season ahead. The 35-year-old's commitment is a boost as Portsmouth prepare for another Championship campaign.

As for the loan contingent, all six players—Aji Alese, Millenic Alli, Florian Bianchini, Jacob Brown, Gustavo Caballero, and Conor Chaplin—will return to their parent clubs. While their contributions were appreciated, Pompey will now look to reshape their squad during the summer transfer window.

Portsmouth secured their place in the Championship for a third consecutive season by finishing 18th, eight points clear of the relegation zone. With key defenders now in the fold and a captain re-signed, the Blues are laying the groundwork for another gritty campaign—and perhaps a push up the table.
