OFFICIAL: Valverde publishes statement about his confrontation with Tchouameni

Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde has broken his silence following a heated confrontation with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni during training, releasing a candid statement that sheds light on the incident and the pressures of a grueling season.

In his social media post, Valverde explained that what began as a routine training play escalated due to the cumulative fatigue and frustration of a demanding campaign. "Yesterday I had an incident with a teammate as a result of a play during training, where the fatigue from competition and frustration make everything bigger than it is," he wrote.

The Uruguayan international emphasized that such clashes are common in high-intensity locker rooms and are typically resolved privately. However, he expressed frustration that details were leaked, noting, "In a normal locker room, these things can happen and are resolved among ourselves without becoming public. Obviously here there is someone behind all this who rushed to tell the story."

Valverde clarified that the situation was blown out of proportion, especially given Real Madrid's rare trophyless season—a stark contrast to their usual dominance. "Added to a season without titles where Madrid is always the center of attention, everything gets magnified," he added.

Addressing the physical altercation rumors, Valverde explained that a second disagreement occurred, during which he accidentally struck a table, resulting in a small cut on his forehead that required a routine hospital visit. "At no point has my teammate hit me, nor have I hit him, although I understand that for you it may have been easier to believe that we beat each other up," he stated firmly.

The midfielder acknowledged his own frustration, admitting that the emotional toll of the season boiled over. "I feel that my anger about the situation, my frustration at seeing that some of us are reaching the end of the season running on our last bit of energy, breaking ourselves mentally, led me to the point of arguing with a teammate," he confessed.

In a heartfelt apology, Valverde expressed regret for how the incident reflected on him and the club. "I'm truly sorry because the situation hurts me, the moment we are going through hurts me. Madrid is one of the most important things in my life and I can't stay indifferent."

He made it clear that any on-field disagreements are left behind once the session ends, emphasizing team unity: "Any clashes we may have on the pitch stop existing once we step off it, and if I have to defend him inside a stadium, I'll be the first to do so."

Valverde concluded by explaining his initial silence, revealing he had planned to wait until season's end before speaking. "We were eliminated from the Champions League and I kept my anger and resentment to myself. We wasted another year and I didn't feel like making posts on social media when the only face I had to show was on the pitch," he admitted.

This incident serves as a reminder of the immense pressure athletes face, especially at a club like Real Madrid where expectations are sky-high. For fans looking to channel their own passion for the game, staying comfortable and focused is key—whether on the pitch or in the stands.
