Thursday's NAC action brought tough matchups for OFA's lacrosse and golf teams, both falling to strong conference rivals.
In lacrosse, the Blue Devils were overpowered by Massena 15-3, while on the golf course, OFA dropped matches to Potsdam (208-238) and Tupper Lake (224-238) at the scenic Theodora Golf Club in Old Forge.
Lacrosse: Massena 15, OFA 3
Massena's offense was firing on all cylinders, led by Drew Smutz's dominant performance (4 goals, 6 assists) and Tristan General's 4-goal, 2-assist effort. Karenhisen Johnson added a hat trick. For OFA, Brody Barrett scored twice, and Brandon Irvine contributed a goal and an assist. In goal, OFA's Jackson Thornhill made 14 saves, while Massena's Keegan Stowell stopped 4 shots.
Lacrosse: Saranac Lake-Lake Placid 11, Malone 10 (OT)
In a thrilling overtime finish, Lukas Miemis scored his fifth goal of the game to lift the Red Storm past the Huskies. Malone's Kai Massaro scored 4 goals, Blake Holthas added 3, and Jake Reynolds, Ethan Vincent, and Drew Matott each found the net once. "I am very proud of our boys. They played their hearts out," said Malone Coach Chris Yaw. "It was a heartbreaker at the end after we took a penalty, but I couldn't be more proud of the effort."
Golf: Potsdam 208, OFA 238; Tupper Lake 224, OFA 238
Potsdam's Cooper Lovely (37) and Ian VanWagner (39) led the way at Theodora, with Michael Saber (43), Adan Draper (44), and Parker Livernois (45) rounding out their scoring. Tupper Lake was paced by Aiden Churco and Graedy Ellen (both 41) and Wyatt Trudeau (42). OFA's Grady Pharoah shot a team-best 45, followed by Blake Morrill and Mason Maroney (both 47), Gavin Moran (49), and Quintin Murphy (54).
Other Golf Results
Salmon River defeated Madrid-Waddington 236-262, led by Tresten Wylie (41) and Tehotenian Herne (44). Canton topped Clifton-Fine 232-282, with Dan Richardson's 42 leading the way, while Carter Brown shot 46 for Clifton-Fine.
