The Florida Complex League is officially underway, and for Detroit Tigers fans, this season brings a wave of excitement and potential. Under the guidance of Scott Harris, the organization has poured significant resources into stocking the lower minors with high-upside teenage talent—think lottery tickets with big breakout potential. While injuries have slowed some of the returns, the FCL roster this year is packed with intriguing names worth watching. Manager Brayan Pena has a dynamic mix of recent draft picks and young international free agents to mold, making this a pivotal season for player development.

On the pitching side, all eyes are on Owen Hall, the Tigers' 2024 second-round pick. After missing most of last season due to injury, Hall is looking to regain his footing and live up to his billing as a breakout candidate. Known for a powerful fastball and a high-spin slider, the right-hander also flashes a promising changeup that could anchor a future rotation. In his first outing, Hall showed flashes of dominance—allowing just one hit (a solo home run) over 2.2 innings, while striking out four and walking two. If he can stay healthy and build up to a regular starter's workload, a promotion to Single-A Lakeland could be on the horizon.

Left-hander Carlos Rodriguez is another arm to track. Though he's only 20 and still developing physically, Rodriguez already demonstrates advanced feel for pitching. With a solid breaking ball, a reliable changeup, and a knack for throwing strikes, he profiles as a command-and-control arm with room to grow. Expect him to make his way to Single-A this summer as he continues to refine his game.

Then there's Jhonan Coba, who many scouts consider the most talented arm on the roster after Hall. At just 19, Coba boasts a mid-90s fastball with excellent movement and a slider that, while inconsistent, can be downright nasty when it's on. He impressed in the Dominican Summer League last year as an 18-year-old, and though he's currently dealing with a minor injury, there's no indication it's serious. Once healthy, Coba could be a name that Tigers fans hear often as the season progresses.

For now, the FCL Tigers are a team of potential and promise. Whether it's Hall's comeback, Rodriguez's polish, or Coba's raw talent, there's plenty of reason to keep your scorecard handy. This is where the future of Detroit's pitching staff is taking shape—one inning at a time.
