The Chicago Bears wrapped up Day 2 of their 2026 rookie minicamp on Saturday at Halas Hall, and there was no shortage of excitement inside the Walter Payton Center. For the second straight day, the team's newest draft picks and undrafted free agents hit the field for drills, working to integrate into the offense, defense, and special teams. The energy was palpable as these rookies look to make their mark and earn a spot on the roster.
One of the biggest stories of the day came off the field: wide receiver Scotty Miller, who was participating on a tryout basis, impressed the coaching staff enough to earn a one-year contract. The Barrington native and former Super Bowl champion (courtesy of his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) brings seven years of NFL experience and 99 career catches to the Bears' receiving room. With his speed and quickness, he adds valuable depth—and perhaps that 100th catch will come in a Chicago uniform. Head coach Ben Johnson noted, "From afar, I've been able to see the speed, the quickness. Certainly very intriguing."
On the field, several rookies turned heads. Tight end Sam Roush continued to impress with his size and burst, making a highlight-reel catch down the seam during 7-on-7 drills. His explosive combine numbers are clearly translating to game action. Fellow tight end Hayden Large also looked sharp catching the football, giving the Bears some intriguing options at the position. Cornerback Malik Muhammad spent the entire practice working in the slot and looked comfortable and confident, while safety Dillon Thieneman showed quick instincts and solid coverage skills. Wide receiver Zavion Thomas also made a few late-practice catches, adding to the competition in the receiving corps.
For Bears fans, this minicamp offers a first look at the next generation of talent. With players like Roush and Miller stepping up, and defensive backs like Muhammad and Thieneman flashing potential, the team is building depth across the board. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just love seeing rookies chase their dreams, Day 2 of minicamp was a reminder that the future is bright in Chicago.
