NY Knicks Star Karl-Anthony Towns Disrespected in New NBA Player Poll

The New York Knicks' star big man, Karl-Anthony Towns, has been catching strays in a recent NBA player poll—and it's raising eyebrows across the league.

Towns, fresh off helping the Knicks reach the Eastern Conference Finals and earning his sixth All-Star nod, has been silencing critics with a dominant stretch of play. Widely regarded as the greatest shooting big man in NBA history, his fit in New York's revamped offense has been a hot topic, but he's answered the bell in style, anchoring one of the most impressive runs in franchise history.

So, you'd think that would earn him some respect, right? Not so fast.

The Athletic's latest player survey asked 81 NBA players to name the league's most overrated player. While Towns didn't top the list, he landed a surprising third place with 7.4% of the vote. Only Alperen Sengun (12.3%), Rudy Gobert (8.6%), and Trae Young (8.6%) ranked higher—a group that includes two-time Defensive Player of the Year Gobert and perennial All-Star Young.

It's worth noting that this particular question drew fewer responses than others, but the results still sting. A six-time All-Star, three-time All-NBA selection, and a key contributor to conference finals runs in back-to-back seasons? That's hardly "overrated" territory.

For Knicks fans and Towns supporters, this poll is a head-scratcher. But if anything, it's just more fuel for a player who thrives on proving people wrong.
