NY Knicks Fans Gets FANTASTIC Update on OG Anunoby’s Availability for Game 1 of East Finals

The New York Knicks are riding an incredible wave of momentum heading into the 2026 Eastern Conference Finals, and fans just received some much-needed good news regarding forward OG Anunoby's availability for Game 1.

After sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers in four dominant games, the only lingering question for this red-hot Knicks squad has been when their versatile forward would return to action. Anunoby has been sidelined since suffering a strained hamstring late in Game 2 of that series, missing the final two contests. While the team didn't need him to close out Philly, his defensive prowess and two-way impact will be crucial against either the Detroit Pistons or Cleveland Cavaliers in the next round.

On Wednesday, Knicks head coach Mike Brown delivered an encouraging update during a press conference with New York media. Brown confirmed that Anunoby participated in "some parts" of today's practice session, though notably sat out the live scrimmage portion. While this doesn't guarantee he'll be in uniform for Game 1, it's a significant step in the right direction.

Earlier reports indicated the Knicks were "optimistic" about Anunoby's potential return during the 76ers series. However, with the team playing exceptionally well in Games 3 and 4, the coaching staff wisely chose to err on the side of caution. As we saw, that patience paid off handsomely.

The timing couldn't be better for Knicks fans. With the Cavaliers and Pistons currently locked in a 2-2 series tie, there's a strong possibility that Eastern Conference Finals won't begin until next week. This extended break gives Anunoby additional time to heal, making his availability for Game 1 look increasingly likely. For a team that's already clicking on all cylinders, getting their defensive anchor back could be the final piece of the puzzle.
