With Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft just a day away, let’s catch up on some of the current rumors regarding what the New York Giants might do with picks 5 and 10 on Thursday night.

Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer believes wide receivers Jordyn Tyson of Arizona State and Carnell Tate of Ohio State are “in play” for the Giants with the fifth pick.

The Giants, I’ve heard, are in play to take one of them at No. 5. And, yes, GM Joe Schoen led a New York contingent to Tyson’s pro day last week. The Giants also had Tyson to New Jersey for a 30 visit, and John Harbaugh was at the first ASU pro day (Tyson didn’t work out at that one). But Schoen and Harbaugh were at Tate’s pro day, met with him there, and had him to Jersey for a 30 visit, too. So all the work’s been done on both. Most teams I’ve talked to give Tate the edge, particularly if you’re taking one in the top five, because there’s a lot less risk.

NY Giants 2026 NFL Draft scouting report: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State

ESPN NFL insider Peter Schrager has dropped a major curveball in his mock draft, which he always reminds us is based on intel from league sources. His picks for the Giants.

I haven’t seen many mock drafts having Reese slip this far, and maybe he won’t. But I also remember Leonard Williams inexplicably falling out of the top five in 2015. These things happen. Edge rusher is not one of the Giants’ holes, but the roster needs good football players. Choosing to add the blue-chip prospect makes sense — especially if New York ends up trading Kayvon Thibodeaux. If the Giants can get Reese, I think they’d take him.

General manager Joe Schoen had dinner with Tyson at the end of last week, and I believe there’s a chance the Giants take him at No. 5. Going fifth might be too rich, considering Tyson’s durability issues (missed 17 of 51 possible games in college). But taking him at the back end of the top 10 with the pick coming back from the Dexter Lawrence II trade is a better value. Tyson could join Malik Nabers, Isaiah Likely and crew to give Jaxson Dart some real options in the pass game.

If Reese is on the board at No. 5, I doubt the Giants take him. I think they will look to trade down a couple of spots and capitalize on a team that really wants him. I absolutely buy wide receiver with one of the first two picks. I think it is a need regardless, but I believe there is worry about Malik Nabers’ readiness to start the season.

Jordan Ranaan of ESPN is out with his annual list of the players the Giants are most likely to draft. Here is his list at both picks 5 and 10:

Downs might be the safest, and best, pick the Giants could po

I am fascinated by Ioane topping the list at this pick. I would love that move, incidentally.
