A hypothetical Denver Nuggets trade concept would land the franchise a former Los Angeles Lakers standout big man.

The Denver Nuggets find themselves at a crossroads. After a disappointing playoff exit at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves, it's clear the defending 2023 champions haven't recaptured that championship magic. The team that once looked unstoppable now seems to lack the chemistry and firepower to make another deep run.

Enter a bold—if speculative—trade idea from CBS Sports' Sam Quinn. While it's far from a sure thing, the proposal would send fan-favorite forward Aaron Gordon to Houston in exchange for a former Los Angeles Lakers superstar: Anthony Davis.

Quinn describes the move as a "Hail Mary," noting that a package including Gordon, Christian Braun or Cameron Johnson, and the No. 26 pick could potentially land Kevin Durant or, more intriguingly, Anthony Davis. "If there's a big name coming to Denver, it's someone old, someone injured, someone overpaid, or someone scaring off richer suitors," Quinn writes.

Davis, a 6-foot-10 big man with a $186 million contract, was instrumental in the Lakers' 2020 championship run. His two-way dominance—blocking shots, finishing at the rim, and stretching the floor—made him a nightmare for opponents. But his time in Los Angeles was also marred by persistent injuries, which ultimately led to his trade to Dallas for Luka Dončić last February.

Unfortunately, Davis's health issues followed him to Texas. He suited up for just 29 games with the Mavericks before being shipped to the Washington Wizards in a multi-player deal. Now, the idea of him donning a Nuggets jersey raises as many questions as it answers.

For Denver, trading Aaron Gordon would be a significant move. Gordon has been a versatile defender and a high-energy presence in the frontcourt, complementing Nikola Jokić's unique skill set. But if the Nuggets are serious about contending again, they might need to take a risk on a superstar like Davis—provided he can stay on the court.

It's a gamble that could either reignite Denver's championship hopes or leave them searching for answers once again.
