Notre Dame Football lands a major recruiting victory with a commitment from one of the nation's top young quarterbacks.

Wonderful Monds IV, a four-star quarterback from Vero Beach, Florida, has officially announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish. The 16-year-old prospect made the announcement Friday on The Pat McAfee Show, sending a wave of excitement through the Notre Dame fanbase.

Currently playing for Vero Beach High School, Monds is ranked as the No. 14 pocket passer in ESPN's 2027 prospect rankings and sits at No. 208 overall in the ESPN 300. His recruitment has been a whirlwind—he originally belonged to the class of 2028 before reclassifying up a year, making his early commitment even more impressive.

"I've been recruited ever since coming in as a ninth grader," Monds told McAfee. "I'm blessed to be in this position."

For Notre Dame, this commitment adds serious depth to an already competitive quarterback room. The 2026 Fighting Irish signal-callers include incumbent starter C.J. Carr, alongside Blake Hebert, Noah Grubbs, and Teddy Jarrad—all four-star talents in their respective classes. Carr, a 2024 recruit, was the No. 2 pocket passer nationally that year.

Monds' decision wasn't made lightly. "I feel like Notre Dame has everything you can think of when it comes to academics," he explained. "People on the coaching staff. Just overall, I feel like it's the best fit for me and my parents. We all sat down. It was probably one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make. But we felt like this would be best for me."

Monds is part of a larger wave of top talent heading to South Bend. The Fighting Irish also secured a commitment from four-star defensive end Aidan O'Neal on the same day. Other notable 2027 commits include cornerback Xavier Hasan (No. 55 overall), linebacker Amarri Irvin (No. 130), cornerback Ace Alston (No. 144), running back Isaiah Rogers (No. 153), and offensive tackle James Halter (No. 155).

With this latest addition, Notre Dame is building a formidable foundation for the future—both in the pocket and across the field.
