Notre Dame football was perfect during its 2026 recruiting cycle, not losing any commitments, but it has been a different story for the 2027 class.
On Monday night, another verbal, safety Khalil Terry, joined linebacker Ellis McGaskin as former commitments. The 5-foot, 11-inch and 185-pounder from California announced that he has reopened the process according to On3’s Greg Biggins.
Terry was ranked as the No. 256 overall prospect in the class by the 247Sports Composite, so this is a significant loss for Notre Dame. The good news is that the Irish are in good position to land other players at his position that are ranked a bit higher like Florida’s Zayden Gamble. Also with this staff, they’ve done a great job at player evaluations, finding multiple diamonds in the rough.
The loss of Terry leaves Notre Dame without a commitment at the position, but the hope is that with the hype of the Blue & Gold game this weekend, more than a few players will start leaning toward playing their collegiate football in South Bend.
