According to the 247 Sports Composite, Vaughn is currently ranked as the No. 204 overall player, the No. 22 EDGE, and the No. 5 player in New Jersey for the 2027 cycle—and those rankings are expected to climb as he heads into a big 2026 season.

Head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff have been on a recruiting tear lately, landing four-star safety Zayden Gamble, explosive wide receiver Jackson Coleman, tight end Titus Hawk, and fast-rising safety John Gay III in recent weeks. But the defensive line class is where the real foundation is being laid.

National recruiting analyst Chad Simmons of Rivals recently logged an expert prediction favoring Notre Dame for Vaughn's commitment. While Simmons noted Miami as another program to watch, the Irish are currently the clear frontrunners. "We are into the month of May, recruiting is heating up, and it is commitment season," Simmons shared, adding that Notre Dame is firmly in the driver's seat.

For a program known for producing NFL-ready defensive linemen, adding Vaughn would be a major statement.
