Notre Dame football has come up short in its efforts to flip 2027 Ohio State 5-star wide receiver Jamier Brown.

Notre Dame football has never been shy about chasing top talent, even when that talent is already committed elsewhere. But in the case of 2027 five-star wide receiver Jamier Brown, the Irish have officially been left at the altar.

Brown, a standout from Ohio who committed to the Buckeyes earlier this year, was rumored to be a potential flip candidate for Notre Dame. However, according to a report from Eleven Warriors, those hopes have been dashed. Over the weekend, the 247Sports Composite five-star announced he is shutting down his recruitment entirely, meaning he won't be entertaining any other programs—including the Irish.

This is a tough break for Notre Dame's 2027 recruiting class. The coaching staff was hoping to pair Brown with current commit Jackson Coleman to form a dynamic wide receiver duo. Unfortunately, this setback follows a concerning trend at the position. In-state five-star Monshun Sales recently left Notre Dame off his final list, raising questions about the Irish's ability to land elite receivers in this cycle.

But it's not all bad news in South Bend. There's positive momentum with California product Osani Gayles and legacy prospect Julius Jones, both of whom remain high on the Irish's board. While neither carries the five-star label that Brown does, they represent promising options to join Coleman in the Blue and Gold.

As for Brown, he's set to make his official visit to Ohio State from May 29-31, fully locked in with the Buckeyes. For Notre Dame, the search for elite playmakers continues—and the 2027 class still has time to take shape.
