The North Augusta Yellow Jackets made history in style, securing their first-ever playoff victory at their brand-new stadium with a thrilling win over crosstown rivals Aiken in the opening game of the 4A baseball playoffs.
Familiarity was the name of the game as these two squads entered the matchup with a tied regular-season series at 1-1. But the stakes were even higher given their postseason history—last year, the Yellow Jackets and Hornets clashed in a decisive Game 3 that left both teams hungry for redemption.
With a packed crowd roaring under the lights, North Augusta rose to the occasion, delivering a performance that Head Coach Kevin Lynn called unforgettable. "So many emotions right now. First-ever home game on this campus, a big-time playoff game against our cross-town rival—it doesn’t get bigger than this. I’m so proud of our team for showing up and playing the way we did. No matter the stage, I expect this level of play, but having it in our first home game at this field is something I’ll never forget," Lynn said.
The win sets up a crucial next challenge for the Yellow Jackets, who will face Gray Collegiate Academy on May 5th. For a team that’s already proven it can handle pressure in a new home, this playoff run is just getting started.
