Florida State softball is dancing into the postseason with a full head of steam, and they're bringing the party right back to Tallahassee. After clinching their 20th ACC Tournament title—fueled by Jazzy Francik's complete-game gem in a 2-1 win over No. 3 Virginia Tech—the Seminoles have earned the No. 9 national seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. That means they'll host the Tallahassee Regional starting Friday, May 15, welcoming UCF, Jacksonville State, and Stetson to their home diamond.
There's a little chip on the shoulder, though. FSU narrowly missed out on a top-eight seed, with the selection committee opting for UCLA—a team that didn't even win its conference tournament and fell to the Noles earlier this season. Committee chair Natalie Honnen cited UCLA's superior top-25 wins as the deciding factor, but the Seminoles are certainly motivated to prove that ranking wrong. If they advance, they'd be paired with UCLA's Los Angeles Regional, setting up a potential Super Regional showdown on the road.
Still, this is a program built for the big stage. FSU is one of just four schools—alongside Alabama, Oklahoma, and UCLA—to host a regional in each of the last 12 seasons. That consistency speaks volumes about the culture head coach Lonni Alameda has built. And with Francik earning ACC All-Tournament MVP honors alongside teammates Jaysoni, Ashtyn, and Isa, the Noles have the star power and depth to make a deep run.
The action kicks off Friday at noon on ESPNU, with FSU taking on Stetson. UCF and Jacksonville State follow at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN+. Saturday and Sunday schedules will be announced later this week. For a team that just showed its grit in the ACC Tournament, the message is clear: let's dance.
