Florida State Athletics is celebrating a remarkable academic achievement, earning a school-record Academic Progress Rate (APR) for the second consecutive year. This back-to-back milestone highlights the Seminoles' commitment to excellence both on the field and in the classroom—a win that every fan can cheer for.
On the diamond, the baseball team continues to showcase its trademark resilience. In their final midweek matchup of the season, Florida State pulled off another thrilling comeback, defeating Jacksonville 5-2. The Seminoles are building momentum at just the right time.
Softball is also making headlines, with two standout performers earning ACC weekly honors. Pitcher Jazzy Francik was named ACC Pitcher of the Week after throwing her second no-hitter of the season. The sophomore was dominant, holding batters to a .057 average over 11 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and just one walk. Francik now boasts a 20-2 record and a team-leading 1.85 ERA in 128.2 innings.
Meanwhile, Jaysoni Beachum earned ACC Player of the Week honors after a stellar performance at the plate. The Tallahassee native hit .667 (8-for-12) with a home run, five RBIs, and four doubles. Beachum has now extended her on-base streak to 42 consecutive games—the third-longest in FSU history. She's hitting .404 this season with eight home runs and a team-leading 59 RBIs, while also drawing 47 walks for a .543 on-base percentage.
In football news, ESPN recently ranked Florida State's offseason ninth-best in the ACC among Power 4 teams. The Seminoles avoided a coaching search by giving head coach Mike Norvell another year, but roster attrition remains a challenge. Only seven of the 24 players who started five-plus games in 2026 are returning, with eight starters lost to the transfer portal and nine more to graduation. Key departures include defensive backs Shyheim Little (Ohio State) and Edwin Joseph (Ole Miss), as well as linebacker Justin Cryer.
Whether you're celebrating academic records, softball dominance, or football's rebuilding efforts, there's plenty to be proud of as a Seminole. Stay tuned for more updates from Tallahassee.
