This weekend, the Premier League stands united. From April 18th to 20th, every club is amplifying a powerful, essential message: there is No Room For Racism in football.
At St. James’ Park, this commitment will be front and center. The iconic stadium will be awash with the campaign's messaging, featured on LED displays, the pre-match handshake board, and the match ball plinth, ensuring the cause resonates with every fan in attendance.
The club is proud to welcome a group of very special guests for this fixture: former Newcastle United players who are true pioneers. Their visit is part of a Show Racism the Red Card initiative that honors the first 11 players of black heritage to represent their clubs at senior level in English football—trailblazers who broke down barriers for generations to come.
This connection runs deep in the North East. Show Racism the Red Card was founded here 30 years ago, supported in its early days by a donation from then-Newcastle goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, himself one of the club's honored trailblazers.
Prior to kick-off, the renowned Wor Flags group will create a spectacular display in the Gallowgate End, paying visual tribute to the legacy of these 11 pioneers and the ongoing fight for equality.
Creating an inclusive, welcoming environment at St. James’ Park is a team effort, and supporters are vital players. If you witness any discriminatory behaviour, please report it immediately by speaking to the nearest steward or wellbeing officer.
You can also use the confidential text service by messaging 60070 with the word HELP, your location (seat, row, block, stand), and a brief description. On non-matchdays, reports can be sent to unitedasone@nufc.co.uk.
Together, from the pitch to the stands, we can ensure football is a game for everyone.
