EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – New Mexico Stat Athletics will not be renewing Emily Wang as its women’s tennis head coach after nearly a decade with the program.
Wang first came to Las Cruces in 2017, leading the program to a WAC Conference Championship title in 2019 as well as two other championship apperances during her tenure at NMSU.
Most recently, the program finished 10-10 overall, 2-2 in Conference USA while sitting undefeated 3-0 on its home court.
“We would like to thank Coach Wang for her dedication and service to our women’s tennis student-athletes and our university,” said NM State Director of Athletics Joe Fields. “We are grateful for her contributions and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
This is the third coaching change under Athletic Director Joe Fields since taking over the position back in October. The university moved on from Wang, in addition to women’s basketball coach Jody Adams and softball head coach Kathy Roldolph since the arrival of Fields.
The program now embarks on its leadership transition and looks for its new head coach.
