NiJaree Canady's college softball career is heading into its final chapter—and what a story it's been. The Texas Tech ace, who recently threw a perfect game and was drafted by the AUSL, has one last shot at the ultimate prize: a national championship.

When the Red Raiders' NCAA Tournament run comes to an end—and fans are hoping that ends with them hoisting the trophy in Oklahoma City—Canady will leave behind more than just an incredible legacy on the mound. She's become a trailblazer for the sport, proving that women's softball can command serious money in the NIL era. For the past two seasons, she's been the highest-paid player in the sport, earning over $1 million per year.

That investment has paid off big for Texas Tech. Last season, Canady powered the Red Raiders to their first Big 12 championship and a historic trip to the Women's College World Series. Her trophy case is overflowing with awards: multiple pitcher and national player of the year honors from D1Softball.com, NFCA, Softball America, USA Softball, and both the Big 12 and Pac-12 conferences.

Now a senior, Canady says she's finally embraced her role as the face of softball NIL. "It took a little bit to get there," she shared. "But now that it's my senior year, I think that's kind of a role I've started to accept. It's definitely been a whirlwind—that's the best way to describe it. There are a lot of positives, but it's something you have to adjust to."

She sees the bigger picture, too. "It's an amazing time in college athletics, specifically for female athletes. Women's sports are exploding, so that's fun to be a part of."

With the NCAA Tournament bracket reveal set for Sunday, Texas Tech is widely considered a serious contender to make it back to Oklahoma City. Canady is also using her platform to share smart money management tips through her ongoing NIL partnership with Venmo—helping fellow athletes handle the financial responsibilities that come with success.

"I feel like all college athletes are managing larger lines of money, which is amazing, but there's also responsibility that comes with that," she explained. "That's why I like Venmo so much—I'm already familiar with it, and it just makes things so much easier than a traditional credit card. You're still earning cash."

As Canady takes the circle for her final ride, she's not just chasing a title—she's redefining what's possible for the next generation of softball stars.
