Jack Nicklaus is bringing his legendary touch back to South Florida, and this time, it's personal.
The Golden Bear, alongside his son Gary, is building an all-new golf course from the ground up at the site of a long-shuttered private club. The project, rebranded as NOKOSI: A Nicklaus Family Club, marks a fresh chapter for the Nicklaus family—and a homecoming of sorts for the 18-time major champion.
Located in Palm Beach County, just 20 minutes from Palm Beach International Airport, the 153-acre property was once home to Sherbrooke Golf & Country Club. That club closed about a decade ago, and after a failed residential redevelopment attempt, the site was acquired in 2025 for $15 million. Now, the Nicklaus team is transforming it into something entirely new.
Construction is already underway, with the completely reimagined course expected to open in late 2026. It's a fitting project for a region Nicklaus has called home for nearly 60 years—a golf-rich area where his legacy runs deep.
"Palm Beach County has been home to our family for close to 60 years, and where Barbara and I have raised our five children, most of our 24 grandchildren, as well as our nine great-grandchildren—with number 10 on the way," said Jack Nicklaus. "NOKOSI is very personal to us, because it is inspired and driven by our lifelong commitment to family. It is about creating a place where families can come together around great golf, great friendships, and a club culture built to last for generations."
The name NOKOSI itself carries meaning: it translates to "bear" in the language of the Seminole Indians of South Florida, a nod to Nicklaus' iconic Golden Bear nickname.
This high-end, limited-membership club will focus on hospitality, lifestyle, and family engagement. And the golf course at its heart will be the first completed under a newly formed development group led by Gary Nicklaus and the Nicklaus family, alongside TWG Global—a diversified holding company that partnered with Jack Nicklaus in March.
For golf fans and families alike, NOKOSI represents more than just a new course. It's a legacy project, built by a legend, for generations to come.
