The NFL is taking a hands-off approach to this year's schedule release videos, even as the Mike Vrabel saga dominates headlines. While tabloids like TMZ Sports and the New York Post have been relentless in their coverage, the league has no plans to review or censor teams' content ahead of Thursday night's big reveal.

For those unfamiliar, the annual schedule release is essentially the Super Bowl of NFL social media—the one day when teams are unofficially licensed to roast each other. And despite the Vrabel-Dianna Russini story making waves, league sources tell Front Office Sports that executives at NFL headquarters won't be stepping in. Instead, all 32 clubs retain full creative control over their memes and videos, from concept to final cut.

"This is the day when teams are licensed to poke fun at each other," one source explained. "The Vrabel story has become such a public matter that teams can take the shot. You may get a call from the Patriots, but the league is not going to get involved." The only times the league typically messages teams is around labor issues, the CBA, or referees—when they need everyone on the same page. If the Jets, Bills, or Chargers want to take aim at Vrabel, that's strictly between the teams.

It's worth noting that Charles Barkley's Inside the NBA already broke the ice on ESPN, showing Vrabel and Russini in the pose made famous by Titanic. So the floodgates may already be open.

If there's one franchise likely to dive in, it's the Los Angeles Chargers. The Bolts have become the undisputed kings of schedule release day, dropping viral videos that have lampooned everyone from former Jaguars coach Urban Meyer to Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Harrison Butker. With the AFC Champion Patriots now in their sights, all eyes will be on the Chargers to see if they take the shot.
