The 2026 NFL Draft first round brought us one huge surprise: The Los Angeles Rams' questionable pick of Alabama QB Ty Simpson, which left fans scratching their heads and head coach Sean McVay seemingly unhappy.

Most mocks had Simpson linked to the Arizona Cardinals, who enter Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft without a quarterback of the future. Could Miami QB Carson Beck be that guy? He's not listed as one of our 21 best players available entering Day 2, but according to ESPN's Matt Miller in a new mock, he could be taken No. 34 overall by the Cards on Friday.

Is this a reach for Beck? It is, based on predraft rankings of him, but the Cardinals are in quarterback purgatory and need to take swings to find a capable starter. Beck's excellent play in the College Football Playoff changed the narrative on him and there are believers around the NFL in his ability as a future starter.

Hmmm! Make sure to check out our first-round winners and losers, along with our grades for every first-round pick.
