There has been a lot of buzz regarding the potential that Aaron Rodgers could end up playing for the Cardinals next season.

The buzz around Aaron Rodgers' next move has been heating up, but one of the NFL's most trusted insiders is throwing cold water on the idea of the veteran quarterback heading to the desert.

With Rodgers staying quiet about his plans for the 2026 season, speculation has naturally shifted to potential landing spots beyond Pittsburgh, where he started last year. Among the most talked-about destinations? The Arizona Cardinals. But according to ESPN and NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, fans shouldn't hold their breath.

"No legs to that one," Rapoport said on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday. "I certainly don't expect—sorry to disappoint everyone—I don't expect him to sign in Arizona. If he's going to play, he's going to play in Pittsburgh."

Rapoport isn't alone in that assessment. Last month, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin made his debut as an NBC analyst and was asked directly about Rodgers' return. Tomlin, who coached Rodgers in 2025, indicated he fully expects the future Hall of Famer to be back under center for the Steelers in 2026.

For now, it looks like the Cardinals will have to look elsewhere for a quarterback upgrade—and Rodgers' next chapter remains firmly rooted in the Steel City.
