NFL Exec Reveals Why Green Bay Packers Fans Should ‘Be Worried’

The Green Bay Packers made headlines last season with a blockbuster trade for superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons, sending their 2026 and 2027 first-round picks to the Dallas Cowboys. The move paid off early, as the Packers held four of their first five opponents to 18 points or fewer. But as the season wore on, injuries—including to Parsons—took their toll, and Green Bay stumbled to a disappointing finish, losing their final four regular-season games and their lone playoff matchup.

Now, with the offseason in full swing, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has been busy rebuilding the roster. But has he done enough to keep the team competitive? One anonymous NFL executive doesn't think so—and he's sounding the alarm for Packers fans.

"I'm a little worried about them," the exec told The Athletic. "Taking a step back, it's depending on how some of the guys they already have develop: Jordan Love, Matthew Golden, Christian Watson. They lost a ton on defense in free agency. I'd be worried about the corner position."

That's a sobering assessment for a team that has long prided itself on developing talent from within. Head coach Matt LaFleur and his staff have a solid track record of getting the most out of their players, and they'll need that magic now more than ever. The secondary, in particular, is under the microscope, and much of the hope rests on the shoulders of rookie cornerback Brandon Cisse, the team's top draft pick out of South Carolina.

Cisse wasn't a first-round selection—51 players were drafted ahead of him—but that doesn't mean he can't make an immediate impact. If he can earn a starting role, he could be the key to shoring up a defense that lost several key contributors in free agency. But as the anonymous exec's comments suggest, there are plenty of doubters around the league.

For Packers fans, the message is clear: this season will be a test of development, resilience, and whether the team's offseason moves were enough to keep them in contention. The cornerback position is the biggest question mark, and all eyes will be on Cisse and the rest of the secondary to prove the skeptics wrong.
