The Dallas Cowboys made headlines during the 2026 NFL Draft, pulling off a surprise first-round steal by landing Ohio State safety Caleb Downs. They also added a pass rusher in Malachi Lawrence, making for an eventful three-day haul of seven new prospects. But as the dust settles, not everyone is impressed with the Cowboys' picks—especially one fourth-round selection that has drawn a harsh warning from an NFL executive.

In a recent report from The Athletic, several front office executives shared their thoughts on this year's draft classes, and the Cowboys came under fire for their choice of cornerback Devin Moore in the fourth round. One exec didn't mince words: “Devin Moore’s injury history is concerning. He will not have a long career.”

That's a sobering take for a player many hoped could strengthen a defense that struggled last season. However, the exec also acknowledged the logic behind the pick, adding, “If you are going to take a risk, take it with a talented guy at a premium position that gets heavily paid in the market. If you get a starter or even a third corner, that is worth it.”

Moore played 30 games across four seasons at Florida, missing just one game in 2025. He recently underwent groin surgery, but the team expects him to be ready for his rookie season. Still, the red flags on his durability are enough to make any fan pause.

In the high-stakes world of the NFL draft, every pick is a gamble—and the Cowboys are betting that Moore's talent will outweigh the risks. Whether that bet pays off remains to be seen, but for now, the league is watching closely.
