Family ties in the NFL, which have always been important to the Pittsburgh Steelers, were on full display during the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

With the 210th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Steelers selected Notre Dame DT Gabriel Rubio — the son of Pittsburgh's 1998 seventh-round draft pick, Angel Rubio.

Here's a fun note: Gabriel Rubio's dad, Angel, was a 1998 draft pick of the Steelers in the 7th round.

Standing at 6-foot-5, 322 pounds, Gabriel Rubio is a solid tackler who plays with leverage at the point of attack, using his strong arms and violent hands to move through blocks.

From 2021 to 2025, Rubio recorded 66 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Rubio is the eighth of Pittsburgh's draft selections in 2026, one of the final picks in what's been a potentially strong, yet polarizing, class.
