The Pittsburgh Steelers finally addressed the safety position in the 2026 NFL Draft, targeting an Oklahoma Sooner with the first of their three seventh-round picks.
With the 224th overall pick in the draft, the Steelers selected Oklahoma safety Robert Spears-Jennings, a hyper-athletic prospect with massive potential.

Spears-Jennings, measuring in at 6 feet 2 inches, possesses a rare blend of size and speed, running the fastest 40 time (4.32 seconds) out of all eligible safeties at the NFL Combine.
From 2022 to 2025, Spears-Jennings has recorded 177 combined tackles, four passes defended, two interceptions, 2.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles.
With incredible upside as a safety and an immediate impact player on special teams, Spears-Jennings was arguably the Steelers' biggest home run draft pick of Day 3 so far.
