The Bucs took a Miami Hurricane in Round 1 when they had edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. fall into their laps. When they were scouting Bain, they must have seen the play of the Hurricane defense's nickel Keionte Scott, because now he is reunited with his former teammate.
With the 116th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have selected cornerback Keionte Scott.
Scott was the Hurricane's nickel defender, a role that was occupied by Jacob Parrish on the Bucs in 2025. This should signal that Parrish will move outside, as Scott has the size and instincts to thrive at the nickel spot and help this Bucs defense get back to its usual dominant ways. They missed Tykee Smith and his physical style in the cornerback group, especially in the slot, but they get that back with Scott.

This is yet another value for general manager Jason Licht as he continues to let the board fall his way in the 2026 NFL Draft.
