The New York Jets have selected Indiana cornerback D’Angelo Ponds with the #50 pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
D’Angelo Ponds is an uber-athletic but undersized 5’ 9”,182 pound cornerback with a ridiculous 43.5” vertical. He was a second team All American last year with 61 tackles, 4 tackles for loss and two interceptions. He is a tenacious, aggressive, extremely talented cornerback who projects best as a slot cornerback. He may, however, play outside if his crazy vertical can make up for his lack of length.
Ponds should see immediate playing time either in the slot or at outside cornerback for the Jets. In the long run Ponds should be a multi-year starter with possible Pro Bowl upside.
