On her latest Making Monsters podcast, Taylor Doll is joined by Ryan Sylvia of Rocky Top Insider to chat about the Tennessee Volunteers’ prospects available in this draft. Several defensive players are mocked or linked to the Bears, including both corners Jermod McCoy and Colton Hood. They also discuss EDGE Joshua Jospehs and a couple of other Vols who look to be drafted next week.
But it’s the physical Hood (5’11 5/8″, 193 lbs), who seems to be on Bears’ fans’ minds of late.
The Vols weren’t expecting Hood, a redshirt sophomore who transferred from Colorado, to be as good as he was, but some injuries led to him having a bigger role in 2025, and he thrived when his number was called.
“Colton Hood went from someone where you’re just going to be a bridge guy,” Sylvia said, “We’re going to have you come in here and kind of hold things down at one of the corner spots till Jermod (McCoy) gets back, and be more of a rotational piece — to cornerback one. You have the toughest assignment, and you need to go out and make a big play or shut down against that side of the field every single snap. And that’s exactly what he did.”
Give Taylor’s show a listen in either of the embeds below, and let us know your thoughts on Hood or some other Volunteers ending up in Chicago.
