The Miami Dolphins made waves this offseason by overhauling their wide receiver corps, parting ways with stars Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, alongside Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. In response, the team added a mix of veteran free agents like Tutu Atwell, Jalen Tolbert, and Terrace Marshall Jr., but it's their rookie class that's generating buzz—especially a late-round steal.
In the 2026 NFL draft, the Dolphins selected three wide receivers, with Kevin Coleman Jr. being the final pick in the fifth round. Despite being the last of the trio, Coleman is already turning heads. ESPN analyst Louis Riddick recently praised the rookie, calling him a "nightmare" for defenses once he gets the ball in his hands. "He can track the ball, has a quick change of direction, and then turns on the afterburners. Look at his open-field running skills," Riddick said. "Miami will be very happy when they get Coleman on the field."
Coleman's college career spanned four seasons across Jackson State, Louisville, Mississippi State, and Missouri, where he hauled in 199 receptions for 2,536 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also showcased his versatility as a return specialist, fielding 62 punts and 19 kicks. With the Dolphins' wide receiver depth chart wide open, Coleman's ability to generate yards after the catch and excel on special teams could earn him significant playing time as a rookie.
As Miami gears up for the season, all eyes will be on this young receiver to see if he can live up to the hype—and become the defensive nightmare Riddick envisions.
