Newcastle United's Under-21 squad recently brought smiles and inspiration to young patients during a special "United for Health" visit, blending community outreach with the magic of football. The young Magpies led an outpatient event at the Foundation's community hub, NUCASTLE, followed by an exclusive stadium tour of St. James' Park and a Q&A session in the media suite. It was a day designed to uplift children facing health challenges, offering them a memorable escape into the world of their favorite club.

The visit is part of Newcastle United Foundation's United for Health programme, which supports children living with various medical conditions. Through this initiative, young patients gain access to weekly adaptive sports sessions at the Great North Children's Hospital, in partnership with Newcastle Hospital Charity. These sessions are tailored for chronically ill children, providing a safe and inclusive way to re-engage with physical activity while accommodating their unique medical needs. It's a powerful reminder that sport can be a tool for healing and joy, not just competition.

Under-21 player Aidan Harris shared his heartfelt experience: "We had a training session with the children at the Foundation, and we wanted to make sure they had the best time possible. I had so much admiration for them. I couldn't tell they were struggling because of their brave faces, full of enthusiasm and energy. It was brilliant to spend the day with them." He added, "They all turned up in their Newcastle kits, so you could tell it was big for them. With us representing the club, we made sure they enjoyed it as much as possible and could at least forget about their illnesses for the time they spent with us."

United for Health is a Players' Project Pilot, supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballers' Association. This initiative aims to build stronger connections between players, communities, and football clubs by putting athletes at the heart of local projects addressing societal issues. This season, 17 projects are being delivered across England and Wales, showcasing how football can drive positive change beyond the pitch. For young fans and patients alike, days like these prove that the spirit of the game is about more than goals—it's about community, resilience, and hope.
