The New York Giants knew they were getting not only a top shut-down cornerback in second-round pick Colton Hood, but a player who takes pride in his work and has a precise attention to detail.

Hood was selected by the Giants with the 37th overall pick out of Tennessee in last weekend's NFL draft in Pittsburgh. The early returns are that the Giants got a first-round talent on Day 2 of the draft.

Hood was a lockdown corner at Tennessee who scored more touchdowns than he allowed. Which leads us to the recent debate over how many touchdowns Hood actually surrendered. Some stat services say one. Hood disagrees. He says he didn't allow any.

Appearing on Up and Adams with Kay Adams moments before the 2026 NFL draft, Hood argued that the lone touchdown he allegedly surrendered was not his man.

"If I can get a second to clear that up, clear the air, it's actually zero touchdowns allowed," said Hood. "PFF (Pro Football Focus) gave me a touchdown on somebody that I wasn't covering, but I came off of my man to go try to help and make a tackle."

The game Hood was referring to was against Mississippi State.

"I was on the goal line, I was covering somebody, somebody else, and my man went in and blocked," continued Hood. "So then I -- and they threw like a little screen from the -- to the tight end that came from the other side, and they put the touchdown on me, and we're playing man coverage."

Adams then instructed her producer to reach out and have the stats rechecked by PFF and others.

As of this writing, Pro Football Focus still has that touchdown attributed to Hood.
