NWSL star Midge Purce has never been one to limit herself to just the pitch. Now, the NJ/NY Gotham FC forward is taking her passion for storytelling and mental strength to the airwaves with her brand-new podcast, Confessions of an Elite Athlete with Midge Purce, in partnership with Vox Media.

Purce first teased the project back in December during an interview with All For XI, hinting at several exciting ventures on the horizon. Now, the mystery is officially out: the podcast launched in April, offering an intimate look at what it truly takes to perform at the highest level.

And Purce brings unique credentials to the mic. She's not just a champion on the field—she's also a Harvard graduate with a degree in psychology. In each episode, she sits down with the world's top athletes to explore the mental battles, unseen challenges, and personal journeys that define greatness. It's a raw, behind-the-scenes look at the mindset of elite performers.

For Purce, the podcast is part of a larger mission to step outside the athlete label. "I think it's really difficult to be a professional athlete in the sense where it can become your entire identity," she shared. "Being able to explore things that allow me to be me is helpful—to focus on being me on the field, and then also be myself off of it."

This isn't her first foray into creative storytelling. Purce also produced The Offseason, a television series that followed NWSL athletes living and training together during the break. The first season, filmed before the 2024 campaign, dropped in fall 2024 and aimed to shake up how women's sports are marketed.

"For a long time, we've just taken what men's sports does in media and marketing and shrink it, pink it, and make it for girls," Purce explained. "I think it's been unsuccessful in targeting female audiences in the right way. There's a gap—we're missing an audience of people who would really enjoy the personalities, storylines, and interpersonal relationships of women in sports."

With her new podcast, Purce is bridging that gap—one honest conversation at a time.
