WEST MEAD TOWNSHIP — A tournament on Saturday will celebrate the grand opening of Crawford County’s latest disc golf course. Get ready to tee off, disc golf enthusiasts! Crawford County is celebrating the grand opening of its newest course with a free, community-wide tournament this Saturday.

The action unfolds at the Townline Fields Disc Golf Course, a fresh addition tucked into the wooded area of the Crawford County Youth Soccer Association (CCYSA) property at 12599 Townline Road in West Mead Township. Designed by local expert Patrick Groover, this 18-hole course offers a fun, accessible challenge for players of all ages. The first nine holes opened in late 2024, with the final nine completed just last year—perfect for a quick 90-to-120-minute round.

"It's a lot of fun," Groover said. "It's a really easy course to get through—something kids and adults can both play."

The tournament kicks off at 9 a.m., so arrive early to register by 8:45 a.m. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a curious beginner, there's a division for you: three skill levels ensure everyone gets in on the action. And don't miss the custom-built kiosk, installed by Conneaut Area Senior High's Charlie Dickey as his Eagle Scout service project earlier this year. It's your go-to hub for maps, rules, and tips to navigate the layout like a champ.

Beyond the competition, there's plenty to keep the whole family entertained. Join a raffle, and consider a donation to support course upkeep and the upcoming CCYSA soccer season, starting June 15. It's a perfect Saturday to grab your discs, enjoy the fresh air, and be part of something new in the local sports scene.
