Nelly Korda won her third major championship on Sunday after running away from the field at The Chevron Championship.

Korda played some exceptional golf throughout the week at Memorial Park and led after every single round on her way to victory at The Chevron Championship.

The 27-year-old was visibly delighted after earning her second win of the season, and so she should have been.

Nelly Korda‘s impressive win at The Chevron Championship was a long time coming. Before her victory on Sunday, she had not won a major championship since 2024.

Korda spoke out after her win at The Chevron about setting the right example for her young fans watching her play.

She really is a fabulous role model, and the future of the women’s game seems very bright with her leading the way.

It’s no coincidence that she was very much the fan favorite at Memorial Park last week.

The Chevron Championship attendance figures throughout the week were really poor, considering the fact that it was the first major championship of the year and the biggest name in the women’s game was leading the event from start to finish.

Also, fans tuning in on their televisions were not able to watch the final round action until Korda was midway through her front nine on Sunday.

The LPGA Tour clearly have to make some changes in that regard moving forward.

But what were the fans inside the grounds at Memorial Park like? Korda was asked that exact question after winning The Chevron Championship on Sunday.

“It was a lot of fun to play in front of. I thank them a lot for chanting my name and being so supportive. It was a lot of fun to play in front of crowds.

“It’s always been a lot of fun to play in front of crowds, especially when you’re playing good golf. When you’re playing bad golf it’s not good to play in front of big crowds.“

In fairness, the crowds did grow as the week went on at Memorial Park.

However, the LPGA Tour leadership will undoubtedly be concerned about the lack of fans on the property in Houston, Texas, during the first two rounds of The Chevron.

It was strange to see so few people out watching the golf at Memorial Park on Thursday and Friday.

The women’s game is in the midst of a real boom era right now.

So, perhaps it was a one-off, and as mentioned previously, the crowds definitely grew after the first two rounds.

And as Nelly Korda said, those who were inside the grounds at The Chevron Championship supported her passionately.

It will be interesting to see how the crowd sizes shape up throughout the remaining four major championships of the year.
