The Nebraska Cornhuskers have made a strong impression on one of the nation's top young defensive talents. Four-star linebacker Tate Wallace, a standout in the class of 2027, recently announced his top six schools—and Nebraska is firmly in the mix.
Wallace, who hails from Iowa, is ranked as the No. 27 linebacker nationally and the No. 2 overall prospect in his home state, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. Alongside Nebraska, his finalists include Minnesota, Notre Dame, Arizona State, Arizona, and Wisconsin—a competitive field that underscores his high demand.
The young linebacker has been busy on the recruiting trail. He kicked off his official visits with a trip to Notre Dame on March 25, followed by stops at Wisconsin on April 9 and Kansas State on April 21. His next scheduled visit is an official trip to Minnesota on May 29, giving the Golden Gophers a key opportunity to make their pitch.
For Nebraska, landing Wallace would be a major boost to an already impressive 2027 recruiting class. The Huskers' current class ranks 13th nationally, per Rivals Team Rankings, and already features eight commitments. Adding a player of Wallace's caliber would further solidify the program's defensive future.
This recruitment is one to watch closely. Minnesota's proximity to Wallace's home state makes them a tough competitor, but Nebraska has shown a knack for securing top-tier talent in this class. If the Huskers can close the deal, Wallace would be another exciting name to add to their growing list of future stars.
