Nebraska football has a rising star in its future, and he's ready to lead the Huskers back to national relevance. Four-star quarterback commit Trae Taylor, a standout in the class of 2027, is making waves with his bold vision and impressive on-field performance.

Taylor recently spoke with Rivals' Josh Newberg at the Rivals Nashville Elite Camp, sharing his determination to restore Nebraska's glory days. "I want to bring Nebraska back," Taylor said. "Everybody says that, but they always have their different reasons. To bring Nebraska back, you have to win. The biggest thing is the culture. It's a blue-chip school, everybody knows about it, everybody knows about the '90s, let's make it relevant in the 2000s. Coach Rhule has given me a great lead off to that race, I just have to run with it."

The 6-foot-3 signal-caller is making a big move for his senior season, transferring from Carmel Catholic in Illinois to powerhouse Millard South in Nebraska. It's a homecoming of sorts for the Huskers faithful, as Taylor will now play his final high school games right in the heart of Husker country. Last season, he put up video game numbers: 3,571 passing yards, 38 touchdowns, and just three interceptions in 11 games, while also rushing for 633 yards and 12 touchdowns on 77 carries.

He's stepping into a winning tradition at Millard South, which went 12-1 in 2025 and claimed its second straight Nebraska Class A state title. Taylor is expected to take over for Jett Thomalla, who is now headed to Alabama. It's a high-pressure role, but Taylor seems built for it.

Taylor is one of eight recruits committed to Nebraska's 2027 class, which currently ranks No. 14 nationally and No. 4 in the Big Ten Conference, according to Rivals. With his arm, his legs, and his belief in head coach Matt Rhule's vision, Taylor is poised to be a key piece in the Huskers' resurgence—and fans can't wait to see him in scarlet and cream.
