The kickoff of the 2026 college football season is still months away but Nebraska coach Matt Rhule is already in midseason form with the media. Rhule spoke with Hurrdat Sports on Tuesday and made it clear that the Husker coaching staff is already tired of hearing about the difficulties the team will face in the 2026 football schedule.
Nebraska will play four Big Ten games at home and seven games at Memorial Stadium in total in 2026. The Huskers' 2026 season will have three nonconference home games against Ohio on Sept. 5, Bowling Green on Sept. 12, and North Dakota on Sept. 19. The Huskers open conference play with a road game at Michigan State on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Nebraska will play three home games in October, against Maryland on Oct. 3, defending national champion Indiana on Oct. 10, and Washington on Oct. 31. The Huskers will also play at Oregon on Oct. 17.
Nebraska enters the month of November with a game at Illinois on Nov. 7 and at Rutgers on Nov. 14. The Huskers will host Ohio State on Nov. 21 and then end the regular season at Iowa on Friday, Nov. 27.
While speaking with Hurrdat Sports, the Huskers' head coach made it clear that Nebraska is excited about the challenge that the Big Ten presents for the 2026 season.
“We’re so tired of hearing about our schedule next year. We literally use the schedule to recruit... We want competitive tough dudes.... We can acknowledge that we have quite a challenge in front of us, and that excites us.”
Rhule is entering his fourth season in Lincoln and has an overall record of 19-19 and a 10-17 mark in the Big Ten Conference.
