The NCAA Division I softball tournament bracket is officially set, and it's a banner year for the SEC. Alabama has secured the No. 1 overall seed, leading a powerhouse conference that claimed six of the top eight spots in the tournament field.

The Crimson Tide (49-7, 19-5 SEC) earned the top seed despite falling to defending national champion Texas in the SEC tournament championship game. It's a remarkable statement from the selection committee, showing that Alabama's dominant regular season—including impressive 7-1 and 9-1 wins over Arkansas and Florida in the conference tournament—outweighed that head-to-head loss to the Longhorns.

Texas (42-10, 16-8 SEC) claimed the No. 2 seed, followed by Oklahoma at No. 3. The Sooners (48-8, 20-4 SEC) spent much of the season ranked No. 1 nationally and made headlines by setting the single-season home run record, powered by freshman catcher Kendall Wells and her incredible 36 homers. However, a loss to Georgia in the SEC tournament semifinals cost them the top spot. The Bulldogs earned the No. 9 seed.

Rounding out the SEC's top-eight dominance are No. 5 Arkansas, No. 6 Tennessee, and No. 7 Florida. Breaking up the conference's stronghold are two Big Ten teams: No. 4 Nebraska and No. 8 UCLA.

While the bracket is mostly straightforward, there's one seeding decision that's raising eyebrows. Florida State (49-8) appears to have a strong case for the No. 8 spot over UCLA (47-8). The Seminoles won both the ACC regular-season and conference tournament titles, and they even defeated the Bruins 11-7 in a head-to-head matchup back in February. UCLA, meanwhile, lost the Big Ten title game to Nebraska. Despite this, the committee slotted Florida State at No. 9, meaning they would need to travel to Los Angeles for a potential Super Regional matchup.

With the bracket locked in, the road to the Women's College World Series is set. The action begins with regionals this weekend, and all eyes will be on whether the SEC's historic seeding translates to championship hardware.
