The Arizona Wildcats men's golf team is staying close to home for the NCAA Regional Tournament, and they couldn't be happier about it.
As the No. 3 seed, Arizona will host the Marana Regional from May 18-20 at The Gallery Golf Club in Dove Mountain, just northwest of Tucson. The top five teams from each of the six regionals will punch their tickets to the NCAA Championships, giving the Wildcats a prime opportunity to compete on familiar turf.
Big 12 champion and reigning national champion Oklahoma State leads the field as the No. 1 seed, followed by LSU. Alabama and Duke round out the top five seeds, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive event.
Playing at The Gallery Golf Club is a major advantage for Arizona. This course has a storied history, having hosted PGA Tour events like the 2007 and 2008 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. The Wildcats' familiarity with the layout could be the edge they need to advance.
Arizona enters the tournament on a high note after a strong second-place finish at the Big 12 Championship. The Wildcats shot 2-under par, finishing just eight strokes behind Oklahoma State. Three players cracked the top 11, with Filip Jakubcik leading the charge at sixth place.
Nationally, Arizona ranks No. 18 according to SCOREBOARD, with Jakubcik sitting at No. 32 individually. Teammates Taishi Moto (No. 98) and Zach Pollo (No. 100) also rank in the top 100, giving the Wildcats a balanced and dangerous lineup.
Under head coach Jim Anderson, Arizona is hungry to return to the NCAA Championships, set for May 29 – June 3 in Carlsbad, California. The Wildcats last made the cut in 2024, finishing 15th, and they're looking to improve on that performance with home-course momentum on their side.
