The Golden State Warriors stayed put at No. 11 in Sunday's NBA Draft lottery, and while much of the buzz has centered on potential first-round targets like Tennessee freshman Nate Ament—who averaged 16.7 points per game—the team's front office might be eyeing a sharpshooter in the later rounds.
According to Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report, the Warriors are projected to select Houston guard Emanuel Sharp with the 54th overall pick in the second round. Sharp, 22, has drawn comparisons to current Warrior Seth Curry, and for good reason: over four seasons with the Cougars, he drained 309 career 3-pointers while shooting an impressive 37.6% from beyond the arc.
In a league where spacing and shooting are at a premium, adding a cost-effective, knockdown shooter in the second round could be a savvy move—especially if Golden State decides to trade their first-round pick. Sharp's ability to stretch the floor and knock down shots off the catch could make him a valuable rotational piece without breaking the bank.
For a team that has built its dynasty on perimeter shooting, a player with Sharp's efficiency and experience could be the kind of diamond-in-the-rough find that keeps the Warriors' offense humming for years to come.
